Most Dating Blogs if You're Not Reading

What follows is a list of dating blogs I enjoy and read regularly. There are only two criteria for the list:
  • The blog has to focus primarily on dating relationships; and
  • The dating blog must be timely, relevant, and offer something new or interesting that other bloggers forgo or avoid completely.
If you feel I've missed a dating blog that meets this criteria, feel free to add it to our database of dating blogs, and I'll review it for inclusion on this list.

1. Nerve's Dating Confessions

Part PostSecret, Twitter and dating blog, Nerve's dating site members post succinct yet telling confessions about their dating and sex lives, such as who they wish would contact them, why they regret not dating someone, or what it takes to earn their romantic attentions. It's a fascinating and constantly-evolving ticker list with a bare and uncensored view of what other singles and couples think right now about their dating lives.

2. Evan Marc Katz

Evan Marc Katz, author of "I Can't Believe I'm Buying This Book: A Commonsense Guide to Internet Dating" (Buy Direct), and "Why You're Still Single" (Buy Direct) has one of the best dating blogs going right now. Katz avoids the mainstream dating press releases, instead focusing on providing advice to his readers on a myriad of dating and relationship topics.

3. Online Dating Insider

Ever wondered what it's like to run a dating site, or curious about starting your own? Then David Evans is the guy to ask and the blog to follow. One of the older dating blogs in existence (circa 2002), Online Dating Insider discusses why dating sites fail or flourish, interviews some of the top dating company movers and shakers, and offers personalized advice and information for dating business owners that can't be found elsewhere.

4. Sex, Lies and Dating In The City

New York City, to be exact. Simone Grant takes her readers all over the place with her dating blog, sharing intimate details about her dating adventures while oftentimes waxing poetic about being single in today's society, and all that it entails.

5. The Great Mate Debte

The Great Mate debate is an ingenious dating blog run by Chemistry.com, where a question is posed and answered by four or five relationship experts, thus creating a debate about love, sex, mating and relating. So not only do you get informative and helpful information, you'll also find different takes on every subject introduced that naturally lend itself to further discussion.

6. Kiss & Blog

"Sexual politics and self indulgence. Same thing, really," is the very apt tagline for the Kiss & Blog, which covers a myriad of unusual topics of interest to dating singles, usually in a provocative way. Unfortunately this dating blog isn't updated as often as I'd like, so it ranks lower on the list than it would had it a more regular posting schedule. Still, Kiss & Blog is a great, thought-provoking read when it is updated, and well worth bookmarking nonetheless.

7. Geek's Dream Girl

As the title suggests, this dating blog focuses entirely on helping geeks find their dream woman, with the help of online dating pros 'e' and assistant 'j', who are very female, very geeky, and very friendly.

8. OkTrends

OkCupid's blog sits firmly in the all-time-favorite dating blog spot in my head, and has for years - and would hit #1 on this list easily, if only they updated a lot more than they do (the most current posting on their blog is almost a year old now.) Having said that, there's good reason for their lackadaisical publishing schedule: no only does OkCupid crunch the data from their members and analyze it intricately and usefully, they also create fun and oftentimes eye-opening graphs giving their readers a better idea as to what they're trying to get across. This kind of intensity takes time, and I get it... I just wish it didn't take so much time.

9. Online Personals Watch

Although focused more on the business of dating rather than relationships in and of themselves, Mark Brooks offers brief updates about dating news from around the world that applies to both singles and the marketers looking to attract them. I find Brooks' ability to pick up stories before the rest of the dating bloggers do to be refreshing, although most of the time the posts are merely quick re-hashings of other blogger posts. Still, it's a great place to visit if you want to stay on top of the dating business in a succint format.
Unfortunately after a few years of fun, the Nerve Blog-A-Log has been removed from their website in 2010. I'm keeping it on this list in the hopes that another datings site picks up the slack and creates something equally as amazing.
